The Mato Grosso Football Federation (FMF) repudiated the alleged manipulation of results in local football in an official note, motivated by corruption attempts involving athletes from Nova Mutum Esporte Clube.

Players reported receiving calls seeking to influence sporting results. The situation raised awareness about the challenges faced by clubs in relation to integrity in sport.

FMF rejects manipulation of results and guarantees support for athletes

The FMF reinforced its commitment to ethics and transparency in football, highlighting the importance of protecting everyone involved.

“We reaffirm our commitment to sporting integrity and make ourselves available to provide all necessary support to the club and athletes facing such a situation”, declared the entity.

According to the federation, there are no plans to suspend the 2025 Mato Grosso Martinello Sicredi 1st Division Championship. Nova Mutum took appropriate measures, reporting the case to the competent authorities.

But, despite the seriousness of the accusations about manipulation of results, the FMF highlighted that the authorities have not yet officially notified them. The entity trusts that the authorities will investigate the case quickly, allowing those responsible to face the legal consequences.

“We reiterate our confidence that the case will be investigated and resolved quickly, ensuring that those responsible are duly punished”, says the note.

Integrity in sport is an ongoing struggle

Cases of result manipulation call into question the credibility of sporting competitions. This illicit practice not only harms clubs and athletes, but also negatively impacts the sports betting market.

iGaming companies have invested in technologies to monitor suspicious movements and combat fraud. Furthermore, initiatives such as partnerships with sports federations contribute to promoting fair and safe competitions.

In short, the case involving Nova Mutum is yet another reminder of the importance of maintaining ethics in sport. But the FMF’s firm response reinforces the fight against corrupt practices.

Therefore, the expectation is that the authorities will quickly resolve the case, ensuring transparency and justice in football in Mato Grosso. It is worth noting that Brazilian football showed a considerable reduction of 48% in suspected cases last season, according to a report from Sportradar.
