The Court of Sports Justice (TJD) held a lecture on “Sports Integrity: Combating the Manipulation of Competitions by the São Paulo Football Federation” with the athletes of the São Paulo Football Cup, the famous Copinha. The objective was to raise awareness about the importance of integrity and measures against fraud.

The event took place in the auditorium of the Municipal Palace of São Carlos and brought together athletes and technical committees from the teams São Carlos FC, Imperatriz-MA, Cruzeiro-MG and Real Brasília-DF. The speaker was Alessandra Christine Bittencourt Ambrogi de Moura, representative of the TJD.

The lecture was part of the official Copinha program, which premiered in São Carlos last Thursday (02). According to Alessandra, the issue of match manipulation is a crucial topic on the global sporting scene.

“This topic and this prevention that the São Paulo Football Federation has carried out together with the Court of Sports Justice is of utmost importance for everyone”, highlighted the specialist.

Copinha athletes are warned about manipulation of results

The TJD, responsible for analyzing and judging infractions in football in São Paulo, plays an essential role in promoting sporting integrity. Therefore, during the event, the speaker highlighted how different areas of law, such as consumer law and labor law, are connected to the topic. In this way, the approach seeks to raise awareness among athletes and coaches about the risks and consequences of irregular conduct.

The municipal secretary of Sport, Fernando Carvalho, emphasized the importance of events like this to train more aware young athletes. “Sometimes we see the issue in a simplistic way, but it involves many aspects that can lead to criminal sanctions or even imprisonment,” he said.

Awareness

So, for Carvalho, the lecture also reinforces São Carlos’ capacity to host large events. This is because the city hosts some of the matches of Brazil’s main youth tournament. “The more possible actions that could cause harm to fans are clarified, the more we advance as a city,” he concluded.

The games in the first phase of the Copinha in São Carlos end this Wednesday (8). Real Brasília-DF and Imperatriz-MA face each other at 2:45 pm, followed by São Carlos FC and Cruzeiro-MG, at 5 pm. The matches will be played at the Estádio Municipal Prof. Luís Augusto de Oliveira “Luisão”.

Therefore, the final of the competition is scheduled for January 25th, the date on which São Paulo celebrates its anniversary. The Copinha games are being broadcast on TV Globo, Sportv, Cazé TV and the YouTube channel of the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF).
