Grupo Silvio Santos faz parceria com a OpenBet para nova marca de apostas no Brasil

Grupo Silvio Santos announced that it will partner with OpenBet to launch its Todos Querem Jogar (TQJ) venture in Brazil, implementing the provider’s end-to-end betting ecosystem.

The new long-term agreement will see Grupo Silvio Santos, a conglomerate that includes Rede Brasileira de Televisão (SBT), offer OpenBet’s responsible gaming technology, its player account management system (PAM) and its services managed trading.

OpenBet arrives to boost TQJ betting platform

Grupo Silvio Santos applied for a license on August 19, one day before the August 20 deadline for the initial 90-day preemption window. Operators who applied for a license during this period can be assured that they will receive processing of their applications by the launch of the legal market on January 1, 2025.

The TQJ platform aims to leverage the Silvio Santos Group’s broad media reach. According to the conglomerate, SBT programs reach more than 113 million Brazilians every month, with an average daily audience of more than 29 million.

Thus, José Roberto Maciel, CEO of Grupo Silvio Santos, believes that the partnership with OpenBet will propel TQJ to the top of the Brazilian regulated betting market. However, it is essential to consider partnerships with media betting brands including Sky Bet and theScore Bet.

“Considering OpenBet’s heritage of working alongside iconic media entertainment brands and state-owned organizations, TQJ is firmly positioned to lead the way in Brazil by offering responsible gaming beyond what is required by legislation and new product experiences that will capture players’ imaginations,” said Maciel.

Jordan Levin, CEO of OpenBet, added: “The Silvio Santos Group is an iconic group in the entertainment sector in Brazil. So we are truly honored to have been chosen to power their sports betting and gaming brand.”

How will OpenBet benefit Silvio Santos Group’s TQJ?

The Silvio Santos Group hopes that the TQJ can be the “number one leader” in player protection in Brazil. This projection is fully compatible, as the platform first entered the country’s sports betting market in September 2023. At the time, it partnered with Play7.Bet.

Grupo Silvio Santos believes that OpenBet’s solutions will allow TQJ to handle significant betting traffic during major sporting events.

Additionally, OpenBet will offer:

  • Bet builder experience
  • Risk Management Guidance
  • Responsible gaming and anti-money laundering technology

Levin is excited about the potential of the partnership with Grupo Silvio Santos and the Brazilian regulated sports betting market. The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) believes it could reach revenue of US$34 billion (£26.8 billion/€31.1 billion) by 2028.

“Considering the esteemed heritage of both OpenBet and GSS, together we are in a strong position. Therefore, we are ready to offer an engaging and responsible betting experience that will make waves in Brazil’s regulated market.”

Thus, Silvio Santos Group Chief Information Officer Leonardo Sampaio added: “For TQJ, it is critical that we offer superior betting experiences that are underpinned by robust compliance procedures.”

“OpenBet’s end-to-end ecosystem and overall company values give us peace of mind knowing we are working with the best company to launch us into the regulated sports betting and gaming market.”

Another media deal in Brazil

But the partnership between OpenBet and Grupo Silvio Santos is the latest example of local media brands showing a growing interest in Brazilian betting.

In August, MGM established a joint venture with Grupo Globo. Globo is currently the largest media brand in Latin America. Today, this audience has around 70 million daily users on TV, digital, radio and print media.
