Professionals from 12 clubs that are members of the Brazilian Football League (Libra) met in São Paulo last Friday (9). The meeting focused on the debate on proposals related to international broadcasting and sports betting rights, which were received over the last few months.

Representatives from Brusque, Flamengo, Grêmio, Guarani, Palmeiras, Red Bull Bragantino, Santos, São Paulo and Vitória participated in person. Virtually, executives from Atlético-MG, Bahia and Paysandu were present.

During the meeting, the president of Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, emphasized the progress that Libra has achieved. “We are moving forward in a constant and solid manner, always aiming to achieve the best possible conditions for our clubs and partners.

“We created Libra with the purpose of strengthening Brazilian football and its teams collectively, and we will remain firm in this objective,” he added.

In addition to international rights, Libra has already secured a significant deal for domestic broadcast rights. In March 2023, the clubs signed an exclusive agreement with Grupo Globo, which covers open, closed TV, streaming and pay-per-view.

This contract, which starts in 2025 and runs until 2029, involves the payment of more than R$6 billion to Libra clubs.

Alberto Guerra, president of Grêmio, highlighted the importance of this partnership with Grupo Globo: “This partnership with the country’s main broadcaster brings budgetary predictability and also exposure for the next five years.”

“Furthermore, it gives us peace of mind to pursue new sources of revenue and strategic business for Libra clubs, which is what we discussed at this meeting”, he added.

Recently, Corinthians left the group and decided to join Liga Forte União, which is still negotiating its broadcasting rights for Brazilian territory.
