The Olympic Games were last held in Paris in 1924, a century ago. But, despite the world being very different, the competitive spirit of the Olympics has not changed. Paris is, once again, the epicenter of athletic excellence, where every athlete is willing to challenge their limits and overcome any challenge.

Integrity defines sporting competition. In other words, it is the very essence of sport, and its protection is fundamental to preserving the spirit and values of the Olympic Games. Without integrity, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat lose their meaning.

Olympic Games have group to prevent match manipulation

Therefore, protecting the integrity of the Olympic Games requires a multi-stakeholder approach; the International Olympic Committee (IOC) created the Olympic Movement Group on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions (Olympic Movement Group on PMC).

In this way, the group is monitoring, reporting and following up on all suspicious betting activities and cases of competition manipulation. UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), as a long-time partner of the IOC, is actively supporting the initiative.

  • National Gambling Authority of France
  • Sportradar
  • United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports

Accordingly, all accredited participants of the Olympic Games – including athletes, officials, members of delegations, judges and jury members – are strictly prohibited from:

  • Manipulating the course or outcome of a competition
  • Bet on any Games event
  • Share inside information
  • Failure to report any knowledge of such misconduct
  • Not cooperating with investigations

Through dedicated communication and reporting channels, task force members are exchanging information and reporting any suspicious betting activity and/or possible violations of the Olympic Movement Code for the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions (OM PMC Code).
