The National Football League (NFL) reiterated that the rules regarding betting games for teams participating in Super Bowl LVIII will not change.

The issue is due to the location of the event, Las Vegas, known worldwide as the capital of gaming and casinos.

Thus, the confrontation scheduled for February 11th (Sunday) between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the NFL highlights that, although the city offers numerous entertainment options, players are subject to penalties if they engage in betting.

“There is no differentiation in the rules for players and other members of participating teams,” said Jeff Miller, the NFL’s executive vice president of communications, public affairs and policy.

“In any work situation, including the Super Bowl, betting, whether sports or otherwise, is prohibited,” he added.

In other words, the warning emphasizes that any player, coach or professional identified playing in casinos will be subject to disciplinary measures.

Last season, players across the league received suspensions of varying degrees. Therefore, the NFL‘s concern in releasing memos about the rules of its policy regarding betting.

The NFL’s goal is to protect the integrity of the competition

Although the Super Bowl is being held in Las Vegas for the first time, organizers want to maintain the integrity of the game.

Therefore, even with the teams located around 40 kilometers from the famous Las Vegas Strip, where many casinos are concentrated, players will not be able to bet.

David Highhill, general manager of sports betting for the NFL, emphasized that the constant focus is on protecting the integrity of the game and delivering experiences for fans.

“We think about NFL sports betting every day. You can boil it down to two things: protecting the integrity of the game and providing experiences for fans interested in sports betting,” commented David Highhill.
