Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA), and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the integrity of sports betting. It brings together the body responsible for ensuring that the Swedish sports betting market is legal, safe and reliable.
Suspicious betting information will be shared
The MoU will allow both parties to share information on suspicious betting activity identified in Swedish sport.
IBIA represents the majority of SGA’s licensed betting market, which leading industry data and intelligence company H2 Gambling Capital has valued at SEK 4,690 million in GGR sports betting in 2022.

IBIA annual report will be out soon
In December 2023, the Swedish government notified the European Commission that it intended to amend the Gambling Act.
The changes include proposals to make Sweden fully compliant with the Macolin Convention. In this way, this will also help SGA create and manage a platform for itself.
Thus, licensed operators and national sports federations will be able to share information about suspected match fixing.

IBIA’s Q4 2023 health report detailed 50 alerts. In the coming weeks, the association will publish its annual report for 2023, bringing insights and achievements from the last year.
The association reported 268 alerts to authorities in 2022, with successful sporting or criminal sanctions against 15 teams, officials or players.
