One of Argentina’s top football teams, Boca Juniors has announced an agreement with online betting company Betsson. Under the agreed terms, the bookmaker’s brand will be inserted on the club’s shirt.
According to Argentine sports media, the deal is worth around US$7.5 million over a period of 18 months, with Betsson becoming the first partner to print the noblest part of the Boca Juniors shirt since July 2022.
The debut of the sports betting company took place in style. Betsson’s first appearance in front of the Argentine club’s fans took place on Sunday night, the 25th, in a farewell game for club legend Juan Román Riquelme – played at La Bombonera Stadium, with the participation of Lionel Messi.
The match was also attended by the Betsson Group CEO, Jesper Svensson, who commented: “This is a historic match that will remain engraved in the hearts of all Boca Juniors fans and football lovers”.
“Sport and football in particular are in Betsson’s DNA; That’s why we couldn’t be left out of such a significant and important event for the club with the most titles and most popular in Argentina”, he added.
Betsson also sponsors Racing in Argentina
The agreement allows Betsson to expand its strength in the first division of the Argentine Championship, since the company is already a sponsor of Racing Club. The contract between the parties is valid for the 2023/2024 season and includes both the men’s and women’s teams, based in Avellaneda.
The official announcement of the partnership took place during a press conference, which was attended by Víctor Blanco, president of Racing, and Maximiliano Bellio, national manager of the group in Argentina.
Betsson is aiming to expand its customer base in the Latin America region, where the company’s latest quarterly report revealed a steady increase in revenue of 23% year-on-year.
