Nine former CTE/Colatina players face accusations of participation in match-fixing and sports betting. All will pass judgment. The hearing will be conducted by the Second Disciplinary Commission of the Sports Court of Espírito Santo and is scheduled for this Tuesday at 7 pm.
The accusation, filed by the TJD-ES Attorney’s Office, refers to the game of the sixth round of the 2022 Copa Espírito Santo, which took place in June, in which the CTE was defeated by Rio Branco-ES by 4-0 at Estádio Engenheiro Araripe. During the match, CTE/Colatina had a disastrous performance in the defensive sector, giving rise to very unusual and suspicious moves.
The improbable plays in a professional football match raised suspicions that some CTE players were involved in a possible betting scheme and that they could have benefited by “delivering” the game to Rio Branco.
Today, Tuesday, goalkeeper Aranha, full-backs Rodrigo Andrade, Kemerson and Matheus Gama, defenders John Kanu and José Daniel, midfielders Macaíba and Pantico, and striker Rogger will be judged by Articles 243 and 243-A of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD).
If found guilty, the defendants may be penalized with a fine ranging from R$ 100.00 (one hundred reais) to R$ 100,000.00 (one hundred thousand reais). In addition to the amount, players may also be suspended from six to 12 matches.
Members of the technical commission and former directors of CTE/Colatina will also be judged for omission in case of match fixing
In addition to the nine former players, former managers and members of the technical commission of the CTE/Colatina will also face trial this Tuesday. However, they will be judged based on Article 223, which establishes: “Failure to comply with or delay compliance with a decision, resolution, sports disciplinary transaction or determination of Sports Justice”.
If found guilty, vice-president José Tamy, assistant coach Jasson Silva and former directors Rafael de Araújo and Jonas Kluves may receive fines in the amount of R$ 100.00 (one hundred reais) to R$ 100,000.00 ( one hundred thousand reais), in addition to being suspended for 90 to 360 days.
