Bookmaker BetMGM is now the official sports betting partner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. This announcement comes ahead of the US state of Massachusetts launching legal online sports betting on March 10.
Matt Prevost, the company’s Chief Revenue Officer, said: “The Red Sox are one of baseball’s most beloved organizations and we are thrilled to bring BetMGM to their passionate fans.”
“We look forward to working together to elevate the gaming experience in Boston,” added Prevost.
As part of the deal, the bookmaker will be entitled to advertise its brand at Fenway Park, the team’s stadium. The signs will be on the ‘Monstro Verde’ that makes up the left wall of the field and inside a suite that will be used for the fans’ VIP experiences.
Co-branded content will also be published on BetMGM and Boston Red Sox digital and social platforms.
Troup Parkinson, EVP of Partnerships for the Boston Red Sox, said, “The Boston Red Sox are proud to partner with BetMGM as we prepare to enter a new era of professional sports betting in Massachusetts.”
“Given our strong relationship with MGM Resorts, BetMGM was the clear choice to become the club’s first sports betting partner, and we look forward to them offering sports betting opportunities to our fans in a safe and responsible manner,” he added.
MGM Resorts, co-owner of BetMGM with Entain, already has a long-term partnership, being the ‘Official Casino Resort of the Boston Red Sox’.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in New Jersey, BetMGM uses technology licensed in the US from Entain to offer online sports betting and gaming through brands such as BetMGM, Borgata Casino, Party Casino and Party Poker.
The group recently sent a $180,000 grant to the International Center for Responsible Gambling (ICRG) in support of the organization’s research and awareness work on responsible gambling and the impact advertising has on excessive gambling.
