In the Northeast Cup sponsorship of sports betting reaches 81% of clubs

In this edition of the Copa do Nordeste, 13 of the 16 participating clubs are sponsored by companies focused on the sports betting business. In 2023, the competition that brings together the best teams from each state in the region completes 20 seasons and has the betting sector as an ally to continue growing.

This year, Bahia announced the biggest sponsorship in the history of northeastern football. In addition, the partnership between Tricolor de Aço and Esportes da Sorte is among the biggest deals in Brazilian football. Valid for three seasons, the contract also guarantees several exhibitions of the bookmaker outside the four lines, such as advertising signs at the Training Center (CT), team buses, interview backdrops, among others.

“The northeastern people are passionate about football and the traditional clubs in this region carry with them the culture of this people. We see Bahia as the ultimate expression of this movement. Owner of the biggest fans in the region, a glorious club, twice Brazilian champion and living a new chapter of its history associated with the biggest group in world football, the City group. We are very proud of having created such a special agreement with this great association of Brazilian football”, says Darwin Filho, CEO of Esporte da Sorte.

According to the most recent survey released by IBOPE Repucom, in the last edition of the Brazilian Championship, the sports betting segment was in third place in the ranking of sectors that most encourage the national football elite. With the sponsorship of 16 brands linked to the betting business, the survey recorded a 45% increase compared to 2021.

Sport, which is among the teams that most won the Copa do Nordeste, with three titles (1994, 2000 and 2014), is supported by Betnacional. With the success of the agreement between the parties last season, the contract that includes the most important place in the Lion’s shirt was extended until 2024.

“The partnership between Sport and Betnacional goes far beyond a master sponsorship, of being a brand stamped on the uniform. I have no doubt that it is a very successful agreement, so much so that we renewed it at the end of last year for two more seasons, with appreciation in relation to the previous terms. We also rely on Betnacional in various marketing actions and campaigns, in addition to promoting experiences for our fans”, says Eduardo Arruda, Vice President of Marketing for Sport.

All clubs present in the 2022 Brasileirão were sponsored by bookmakers. In total, ten teams ceded the prime space on their jerseys to companies in the betting sector: América (Pixbet), São Paulo (Sportsbet.io), Santos (Pixbet), Juventude (Pixbet), Goiás (Pixbet), Fluminense (Betano ), Botafogo (Blaze), Avai (Pixbet), Atlético-MG (Betano) and Atlético-GO (Amuletobet).

“Hundreds of millions of reais are invested in the main Brazilian sport by companies in the sports betting business. These values ​​are fundamental for teams and also for tournaments. If the funds are well managed, with a good targeting of the amount, everyone will benefit”, says Fábio Wolff, partner-owner of Wolff Sports, a company that signed several agreements with the bookmaker, such as the partnership between Santos and Pixbet.
