The amount of sports betting on women’s sports championships, especially football, grew 139% in 2022 compared to 2021. The number was announced by Casa de Apostas, a sports betting company, which sees the technical, dissemination and advertising return as the reasons for this increase.
“The industry has grown as a whole. The visibility around sports broadcasts and social media is massive. And, as it should be, the bets around these competitions also gained prominence”, said Hans Schleier, marketing director of the company.
The increase in female participation in the sector was also noted by other brands. According to Esportes da Sorte, women’s competitions attracted triple the interest in 2022 when compared to the previous year. The expectation is that these numbers will grow even more, since in 2023 the Women’s World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand.

“All the disclosure made by the media is reflected in this return. It is worth adding that the semifinals of the last Brazilian Championship had four clubs with huge supporters, as is the case of Flamengo x Internacional and Corinthians x Palmeiras”, said Darwin Filho, CEO of Esportes da Sorte.
“There was also the presence of Corinthians and Palmeiras in the last edition of Libertadores Feminina. This also contributed to these accesses”, he added.
Women are placing more sports bets
Last year, an expressive growth in the number of women sports betting was evident. Galera.bet, a company that invests in women’s football by sponsoring the Ferroviária team and the Campeonato Brasileiro, corroborates this growth.
When the company’s activities began in 2021, the average was similar to the rest of the market, 18%. Currently, taking into account those who place bets on the company’s website, that number is more than double, around 40%.
In Esportes da Sorte, the percentage reached in 2022 among women bettors was even higher, at 43.8%. In 2021, the house had an average of 36% of bettors.
The division of the predominant age groups stands out, from the youngest, between 18 and 24 years old (34%), to those over 55 years old (5.2%). Between 45 and 54 years old, the average is 15%. Most are in the range between 25 and 34 years old, with 45.3%.
