FIFA revealed that there were no suspicious betting activities during the first 56 games of the World Cup, which is being played in Qatar. The Federation has an integrity-focused task force that has been specially appointed to monitor betting markets during competition.

In partnership with Qatar’s Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC), the task force determined that there was no suspicious activity or threat of match-fixing in the early stages of the tournament.

In addition to the SSOC, the group is assisted by the Council of Europe and its Copenhagen Group, INTERPOL, Sportradar, Integrity in Sports (formerly called GLMS) and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).

Additionally, for this tournament, the FBI provided “expertise and knowledge”, while the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime also contributed as part of a landmark agreement signed in 2020.

“During the competition, FIFA centralized data collection from betting monitoring reports, based on information such as iGaming market activity, data and investigations from other jurisdictions, including law enforcement actions, on-site surveillance of competition for any suspicious behavior and calls to dedicated phone lines and other reporting mechanisms,” said FIFA.

It also clarified that all information was analyzed and later shared by members of the integrity task force, which will continue to work on all matches until the end of the tournament.

Group of Brazilian gamblers lose BRL 200,000 in the World Cup

The quarterfinals of the World Cup caused a group specialized in sports betting to have a loss of 200 thousand reais with the defeat of Brazil. Dupla Aposta, the channel that works with consultants in the betting sector, made an investment in Brazil’s title in Qatar in September.

But after the elimination of our Brazilian selection, the members of the channel already published the “red”. Brazil opened the scoring against Croatia with a great goal by Neymar in the first stage of extra time, but took the tie in the final minutes of extra time and was overcome on penalties.
