Kindred will promote 'Safe Play Week' on Rangers FC and Middlesbrough shirts

Football clubs Middlesbrough and Rangers FC will wear special shirts to promote Safer Gambling Week in the UK.

By linking both clubs to the Kindred Group, Unibet’s usual branding will be replaced by the ‘Zero % Mission’ logo.

Middlesbrough will wear the special jersey for the club’s games against Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield, while Rangers will wear the modified jersey against Dundee United.

Neil Banbury, UK General Manager, Kindred Group, said of the temporary brand changes: “We are committed to implementing a new type of sponsorship model together with the clubs and communities we support.”

“As we enter Safe Play Week, it’s a good time to reflect on the continued progress we’ve made in terms of protecting customers, as well as the improvements we continue to make through advances in our technology and processes. We are on a journey and we still have more to go, but we are confident that our approach is delivering results,” added Banbury.

Safe Play Week runs from the 17th to the 23rd of October in the UK – and aims to highlight the challenges caused by excessive play – which many footballers have admitted to having issues with during their careers.

Kindred Actions to Support Responsible Gaming

Kindred, which owns the Unibet brand, is backing the campaign and has already revealed data showing that 3% of its revenue is taken from high-risk players.

However, the group says it ‘implements a range of early detection measures, with a focus on educating customers about safer gaming‘. In addition, the ‘Zero% Mission’ branding will be displayed on both clubs’ websites and advertising boards throughout the week.

Middlesbrough lost 2-0 to Millwall last weekend, while Rangers FC lost 7-1 to Liverpool in the Champions League last Wednesday the 12th.
