Parimatch contributes €500,000 to Ukraine's humanitarian efforts

Parimatch detailed that its Parimatch Foundation has contributed a total of €510,000 to support humanitarian causes in Ukraine as the Russian invasion approaches its 10th week.

Since February 24 this year, the sports betting operator and technology company has spent €135,000 on building and maintaining shelters in western Ukraine, where many refugees from the conflict in the east are heading.

In addition, nearly €80,000 was used to purchase and install two ventilators at Kiev’s Okhmatdyt hospital, and a further €35,000 was directed towards supporting Ukrainian athletes with disabilities.

Additional areas of spending included €20,000 on the purchase and delivery of hygiene kits from Cyprus – where Parimatch is based – to Ukraine, €6,000 on humanitarian logistics and €4,800 on evacuation from points of conflict.

Finally, the company sent ‘about 40 tons’ of humanitarian aid in the form of food, medicine and clothing to Kiev, Chermihiv and other war-affected regions.

“Since the start of the war in Ukraine, the Parimatch Foundation – previously focused on educational and sports projects for children – has reallocated most of its resources to helping Ukrainian women and children survive the war and gain security,” reads a statement from the parimatch.

The note follows: “To ensure the effectiveness of this decision, some branches of humanitarian aid and medical needs, financial aid and fundraising were created, establishing new partnerships to collect funds and support the necessary projects of the Foundation”.

Parimatch aims to build 5,000 refugee shelters

Efforts allowed 600 women and children to leave towns in the conflict zone, such as Irpin, Bucha, Kharkiv, Hostomel, Vorzel, while 100 refugees were given accommodation in Cyprus. In addition, the company detailed that 4,000 refugee accommodation centers have already been built, with a further 1,000 until the target is reached.

The group plans to organize ‘constant cooperation’ with psychologists and legal experts to support civilians relocated to the newly built safe centers, including the launch of the ‘Trauma of War’ program for children.

Although currently based in Cyprus, Parimatch was founded in Kiev in 1994, and so has been one of the gaming industry’s most prominent voices in condemning the invasion of Russia and providing support to Ukraine – the company notably withdrew its Russian franchise shortly after. the start of the war.

Wider industry reactions to the conflict have resulted in a number of companies donating to Gambling Industry funds for Ukraine, which collects donations to support the operations of the humanitarian charity ‘Choose Love’, which in March had raised €250,000.
