About 60% of the country's football teams have agreements with bookmakers

The sports betting sector is growing significantly in the national territory, and the sport is managing to reap good results from this association. In the past year alone, bookmakers accounted for about 60% of the support obtained by teams in the country’s two main football divisions.

Among the sponsored teams in this market are traditional names like Flamengo, São Paulo and Corinthians, as well as country clubs like Guarani and Ponte Preta. In total, there are 25 teams supported by companies in this segment.

This situation aroused the interest of the Federal Government, which is already mobilized to regulate the activity and start taxing in the country. The process, which started with Law 13.756 / 2018, is still going on. The trend is that, in the coming months, the Ministry of Economy will set the standards for the betting market in Brazil.

As reported by the MKT Esportivo portal, information is viewed positively by sports betting companies. This is because the regulation for the segment will provide more security to Brazilian consumers, which, over time, will make it possible for more investments to be made, not only in football, but also in other sports.

For those who feel motivated to give their skits at sporting events, the new rules will also bring benefits. As they will allow the betting industry to strengthen and, consequently, irregular businesses will be eradicated from the market.

New restrictions in Europe could benefit the country’s betting market

In addition, the legislation will enable clubs and sports teams to count on other sources of income and improve performance, with the hiring of reinforcements, qualified professionals and modern equipment.

The result will be satisfactory for bettors, who should only look for regulated options and study tactics for a guaranteed bet, without having to worry about other issues.

Another point that favors the national sports betting market is the recent wave of changes in European policies, which are presenting increasingly strict standards.

For example, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs recently set severe restrictions on advertising for bookmakers in Spain, practically vetoing radio and TV screenings.

This change in posture in the European market is advantageous for the national scenario since, with the lower offer or profitability of the bets, investments in the segments tend to migrate to more flexible nations, such as Brazil itself.

Therefore, not only will the Brazilian player have more betting alternatives and probably greater profits, but the country’s sport will also benefit from more sponsorship agreements, shining globally.

This optimistic outlook, however, still depends on the action of the Federal Government, in finalizing the process of regulating the national betting market. Until this officially happens, the sector can expand, but without reaching its maximum potential.
