William Hill announced that it has switched its entire UK electricity supply to renewable energy as part of the operator’s sustainability policy.
The company switched from the UK grid to Total Gas and Power, which now has 100% renewable electricity, including solar, wind and hydroelectric sources.
In addition, William Hill said that by adopting an “all-green” supply, it will stop generating about 61,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the three-year contract, which is equivalent to the emission of 38,000 cars in the UK or 16,667 outbound flights from London to Las Vegas, in the United States.
This initiative is one of several sustainability actions that the operator is promoting to become greener, which also includes the implementation of an intelligent metering system in all of its betting stores in 2021.
David Medori, the purchasing director at William Hill, said: “We prioritize the environment as something extremely important to William Hill. And, we are committed to becoming a business that adopts the concept of “Carbon Neutral”.
Medori added: “We have set aggressive goals over five years to reduce C02 in energy, waste, transport and water. All metrics are within the planning. We have an Environmental Management Forum to conduct the main initiatives and ensure that they are on the operational agendas and of our Council “.
Kindred also announced its intention to help combat climate change in October last year, committing itself to reducing business travel by 30% to achieve the energy savings targets set by the Paris Agreement.
