Away for 10 weeks from any football-related activity due to the disregard for the rules of the English Football Federation (FA), Atlético Madrid Madrid side Kieran Trippier managed to reverse the situation by filing an appeal with FIFA.
However, the case has recently gained new information. In 2019, he was accused of exchanging messages with friends with inside information regarding his transfer from Tottenham, England, to the Spanish club. From then on, these people made countless bets over the days.
Trippier messages with his friends about the transfer
Now, the British media outlet The Telegraph has revealed conversations in which Kieran Trippier informs WhatsApp, to an acquaintance who could bet that he would change teams in that international transfer window.
The dialogue between the player and his friend published in The Telegraph:
Trippier’s friend: “Should I bet you will end up going there?”;
Trippier: “You can do it, buddy”;
Trippier’s friend: “100%, Trippier?”;
Trippier: “Yes, man. Don’t blame me if something goes wrong, it shouldn’t. But, just so you know”
By sharing this type of information that can be used to bet sports, the Atlético de Madrid player broke the rules of conduct established by the FA that aim to defend the integrity of the sport.
The process has 41 pages and features more similar conversations, some with words often used in the betting industry, in which the player assures his friends that he is very close to signing with the new club. “Come with me to Madrid to sign, buddy,” he wrote before a friend placed new bets.
Feature under analysis at FIFA
Last Sunday, 3, FIFA accepted Atletico Madrid’s appeal, releasing the player to return to acting while analyzing the case. Atlético’s argument is that the duration of the suspension would not affect any commitment of the English team, that is, he would lose only club games.
In addition to the 10-week sentence, the full-back also received a fine of 77,500 euros.
