According to the Málaga announcement the betting house is “a reference for the large British community based on the Costa del Sol. Where there is a fervent Malaguista feeling, with the friendly fans of Guiri Armi as great supporters for many years”.

The details of the deal have not been made public. However, the club announced the deal by welcoming “an old friend” on its social networks.

In addition, the soccer team estimates to balance its financial health with the new sponsorship, since it closed with 3.38 million euros in the 2018-2019 season. An amount about 9 million euros below the value registered in the previous year.

Málaga’s turnover recorded a 40% drop recently, standing at around 42.5 million euros.

Spanish government to limit advertising of betting houses.

However, Málaga’s agreement with the British company was announced weeks before the implementation of new rules from the Spanish Ministry of Consumption.

Since these measures aim to change advertising in the Spanish Championship, restricting the hits between soccer teams and betting houses.

Despite warnings from the Minister of Consumer, Alberto Garzón, there are more than five LaLiga clubs that have formalized contracts with companies in the area of sports betting in recent weeks.

One of the most recent cases was announced on September 7. This time, RCD Espanyol signed an agreement with Betway. The team, which will also play in the Spanish second division, will display the betting house’s mark on the front of their shirt.
