The sports betting market in Brazil has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. Women expand their presence in this scenario and drive change in a sector previously associated mostly with men. Between digital platforms and mobile devices, they are gaining ground in a segment that generates billions of reais in the country.

Exclusive data from the Painel das Bets, a tool developed by the Aposta Legal portal to monitor the sector, indicates that, in 2025, they will represent 37% of bettors in legal sportsbooks. In the previous year, this share was 33.2%. Meanwhile, male participation fell from 66.8% to 63%.

What explains the advancement of women in sports betting

The growth of female presence occurs in parallel with warning signs. In 2024, the Ministry of Health recorded 896 consultations related to gambling disease in Brazil. Of this total, 515 involved women, equivalent to 57% of cases.

Furthermore, a study by Aposta Legal points to greater female susceptibility to the influence of third parties when choosing platforms. Instagram leads as the main gateway: 49% of women say they discovered betting sites through the social network, compared to 46% of men.

Likewise, 12% of them report direct influence from digital influencers, a percentage higher than the 9% observed among men. Experts warn that this dependence can direct users to websites of dubious origin, increasing financial risks.

The Brazilian market reached 26.4 billion total accesses in 2025, according to data from Panel das Bets. The tool monitors traffic and revenue from legal and illegal operators. In certain months, accesses exceeded 2.7 billion, as occurred in August.

Methodology and operation of the Bets Panel

The Bets Panel is an exclusive Aposta Legal initiative dedicated to continuous monitoring of the regulated market. The methodology integrates traffic monitoring with analysis of financial indicators and official federal revenue data.

Firstly, specialized tools collect access data to betting sites. Then, crossing this information with public indicators makes it possible to estimate average revenue per access, gross profit (GGR) and amounts collected in taxes.

In the case of illegal bets, the estimate considers market studies that indicate revenue equivalent to 40% of the total generated by legal bets. Furthermore, the tool traces the demographic profile of users based on .bet.br domains.

The data shows that 98.8% of accesses occur via cell phones, while 1.2% come from computers. As for gender, 63% of users are men and 37% women. In relation to age group, the group aged 25 to 34 leads with 28.4%, followed by 35 to 44 years old, with 20.3%.
