The Central Bank recently announced a new plan available to companies through Pix, the instant payments platform. This initiative should increase the security of the tool for both consumers and companies.
New Central Bank Plan
According to OneKey Payments, a payment technology company licensed by the Central Bank, new features such as Pix by Approximation and Pix Automatic will improve the user experience.
These capabilities will provide significant value to businesses by providing important customer insights.
César Garcia, CEO of OneKey, explained that the transmission of information to customers and companies must respect the security standards required by law.
“As long as they respect the LGPD (General Personal Data Protection Law), companies that receive a Pix can apply additional tools to carry out internal validations”, he stated.
“This allows you to increase security and collect more information, such as the customer’s name, date of birth, address, CPF, as well as legal and compliance data. For example, if a customer has arrest warrants, if they are a Politically Exposed Person or has a history of fraudulent activities,” he added.
Therefore, the data that companies receive from these transactions can also be used to organize customer service and create targeted and harmless advertising.
History of Pix in Brazil
In this regard, OneKey emphasized that it will be able to adequately monitor customers and apply strict controls against money laundering and fraud. Around 70% of Brazilians use Pix, demonstrating its popularity and practicality.
According to data from the Central Bank, Pix recorded more than 224 million transactions in a single day. This number exceeds the population of Brazil, highlighting its wide adherence.
The Central Bank of Brazil launched Pix on November 16, 2020, seeking to modernize the payment system and offer fast and secure transactions for users.
But the development of the new payment method began much earlier, in 2018. The objective was to create a financial inclusion project and encourage banking competition. So, after launch, it quickly won over consumers and merchants with instant transfers, 24 hours a day.
Over time, it gained new features, such as Pix by Approximation and Automatic, expanding its conveniences. This system revolutionized payments in Brazil, boosting digital culture and online entertainment.
