The online gaming market in Spain recorded notable numbers in the last quarter of 2023, as reported by the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ).
Total revenue reached an impressive €315.3 million, indicating a moderate increase of 0.6% compared to the same period last year and a growth of 3.6% compared to the previous quarter.
At the same time, deposits rose by 9.4%, totaling 1.04 billion euros.
The online casino segment emerged as the main driver of these numbers, contributing more than half of total revenue, reaching the €171.3 million mark.
Within this category, slots stood out, recording a notable increase of 25.9% compared to the previous year, while roulette revenue grew by 15.3%.
Furthermore, revenue from sports betting reached 114.7 million euros, with poker contributing 25.4 million euros.
Bingo and contests also recorded significant numbers, generating 3.8 million euros and 50 thousand euros, respectively.
Increase in monthly average in online games in Spain
An interesting aspect is the increase in the monthly average of active game accounts, which increased by 6.8% compared to the previous year. Thus, reaching 1,269,585 accounts.
However, the number of new accounts registered a slight drop of 2.3%, totaling 129,207.
At the end of the quarter, Spain was home to 78 active licensed operators, covering a wide range of offerings from casino and sports betting to poker, bingo and contests.
These operators spent around 113 million euros, with significant investments in promotions, advertising, affiliations and sponsorships, highlighting the intense competition in the market.
These numbers not only reflect the current panorama of the online gaming market in Spain, but also signal trends and areas of potential growth for the coming quarters.
