Os slots estão perdendo popularidade - SOFTSWISS

What are the most popular games? Which iGaming providers have achieved the most success? SOFTSWISS, an innovative company that provides a complete ecosystem of comprehensive software solutions, shares information across regional markets.

The analysis presented is based on Game Aggregator data covering the second half of 2022 and the first half of 2023.

Europe

Slot games remain popular in Europe despite losing around 5% during the second half of 2022 and the first half of 2023.

Despite this decline, its market share still exceeds 80% among other game categories. On the other hand, card games improved their position by almost 4%.

The five most popular game categories have undergone minor changes in Q2 2023.

The total sum of bets on dice games saw a substantial increase, growing 2.7 times compared to the previous quarter.

This increase in performance guaranteed this type of games the fifth position at the top of the ranking, displacing casual games.

Gates of Olympus, Big Bamboo and Midas Golden Touch have emerged as some of the most popular games of the past year.

Notably, the top gaming landscape exhibited significant variations from quarter to quarter.

In the 2022-2023 European gaming sector, top-performing game providers include Amatic, Amusnet (EGT), BGaming, Evolution, Pragmatic Play, Push Gaming and Relax Gaming. Their positions in the rankings underwent subtle changes from quarter to quarter.

Asia

The five most popular gaming categories in Asia have exhibited a consistent trend since the last quarter of 2021.

Slot games occupy a prominent position in the Asian gaming scene, with their market share exceeding 80% compared to other categories.

Gates of Olympus took the title of Asia‘s most popular game in Q4 2021 and has maintained its leading position ever since.

Meanwhile, another popular game, Bonanza Billion, has seen fluctuations in its top five rankings since the end of the previous year.

Aviator’s total bets doubled during the first half of this year, propelling the game into a leading position.

In contrast, the once-popular game Hot Fruits lost its top ranking position during the second quarter of 2023.

As for the most successful game providers in Asia, it should be noted that Evolution, Pragmatic Play and BGaming have been continuously jockeying for positions in the top five over the last four quarters under review.

Play’n Go and Amatic have given up their places in the rankings to 1spin4win and Amusnet (EGT), with the latter topping the list in the second quarter of 2023.

Tatyana Kaminskaya, head of SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator, comments: “The popularity of the Aviator game can be explained by the simple interface and fast payments. What sets it apart even further is its distinct gameplay mechanics, which differ significantly from other passion games on the market,” she said.

“Notably, Aviator offers players the illusion of control over the game, adding an extra level of excitement and intrigue,” he concludes.

Latin America

The top five most popular gaming categories in Latin America have remained consistent over the past year, with nearly 60% of these categories dominated by slots.

The five most popular games currently on SOFTSWISS are as follows:

  • Brazilian Roulette – 8.27%
  • Aviator – 5,97%
  • Gates of Olympus – 5,24%
  • Sweet Bonanza – 3,44%
  • Crazy Time – 3,14%

Aviator rose to the top in the fourth quarter of 2022, experiencing a significant increase in the total sum of bets, almost €170 million more compared to the previous quarter.

This success propelled its supplier, Spribe, from tenth place in Q3 2022 to fourth in Q2 2023, displacing Play’n GO from the top five.

Other providers, specifically Pragmatic Play, Evolution, Playtech and BGaming, have remained at the top with small changes to their rankings over the past year.

The five most popular games represent approximately 25% of the total sum of bets on all games in Latin America, while in Europe and Asia the same represents around 10%.

Another notable market trend is the shift away from roulette slots and the growing preference for live games.

Carla Dualib, Regional Business Development Manager for SOFTSWISS in Latin America, comments: “Gamers in Latin America in the context of online gaming can differ from players in Europe in several ways. The majority of Latin American players bet via mobile devices and prefer to play online.”

He continues: “Local casino slot players tend to make small but regular bets, which distinguishes them from European online casino players, who, in turn, bet less frequently but bet larger amounts on slots.”

“Speaking about the Latin American market, we must keep in mind that Brazil is the most active player in it. Factors such as economic potential, increased Internet penetration, mobile accessibility and regulatory changes are making the Brazilian market more attractive for operators. ”
