Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) has announced plans to launch its first online casino, marking its entry into the betting industry.

Traditionally a retail casino operator, the corporation has stated that it intends to replicate the atmosphere of its land-based casinos on the new online platform.

“This will bring several benefits and opportunities, such as increased revenue, expansion of reach and market, cost efficiencies and greater interaction with customers,” said Pagcor President and CEO, Alejandro Tengco.

“It will allow players to interact with digital versions of traditional casino games. In addition, it will transcend physical boundaries, allowing users from around the world to interact and participate in virtual environments.”

“We can reach a global audience and establish a presence in virtual communities of avid gamers. It will also provide opportunities to explore new markets and diversify the customer base,” added Tengco.

Pagcor modernization plan

Tengco said the launch of the online casino is part of Pagcor’s broader modernization plan, which will also cover its retail casino activities across the country.

Pagcor has already taken steps to modernize its slot machine operations, which Tengco says will help maintain growth momentum.

“We have already taken the first steps and started negotiations with different manufacturers for the modernization of our slot machines,” said Tengco. “I hope our customers will have a renewed gaming experience.”

“Our goal is to improve our game offerings by replacing our aging machines with a total of 3,500 new units under a lease agreement with the manufacturer.”

Betting and casinos are very successful in the country.

The plan also includes the development of programs and IT systems to improve Pagcor’s casino management system.

“It will play a key role in improving Pagcor’s casinos in terms of operational efficiency, enhancing the customer experience, facilitating real-time reporting and analytics, ensuring security and fraud prevention, optimizing financial management and simplifying compliance requirements,” said Tengco.

Combating illegal activities

The expansion into iGaming comes as Pagcor steps up efforts to combat illegal gambling in the Philippines.

Last month, Pagcor carried out a transaction against Xinchuang Network Technology Inc (Pogo). The organization decided to investigate the operator after receiving information of alleged criminal activities at the location.

In May, Pagcor also canceled Sun Valley Clark‘s license. The organization claimed that the company’s facilities were used for illegal activities.

This came after CGC Technologies, which occupied six buildings within the Sun Valley complex, also had its license revoked.

An investigation revealed that she had participated in illegal operations.

Meanwhile, among recent changes, Pagcor has joined Clark’s new Security Advisory Board to support its efforts to combat illegal gambling.
