Apple announced in a restricted message that it has paused ads related to gambling and certain other categories on product pages on its App Store.

In a brief statement sent to MacRumors, the company responded to a series of questions from well-known users and developers with the message: “We have taken a break from ads related to gambling and certain other categories on the App Store product pages.” .

Additionally, MacRumors detailed that Apple did not clarify how long the break will last, or whether it will make any policy changes based on how the initial implementation was done.

Per the company’s guidelines for advertising on the App Store, there are restrictions on where apps related to gambling, alcohol consumption, dating and medication can be advertised.

The site claims gambling apps are “banned or limited in some nations and regions” but says nothing about the audience to whom they can be offered, reports media portal The Verge.

On Twitter, dozens of users shared screenshots of ads: in addition to gambling games being advertised alongside gambling addiction recovery products, there are examples of other gaming apps being advertised on pages aimed at kids, video chat apps for adults that appear on Apple’s books page and other dating app suggestions below other apps.

In May, reports revealed that Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, planned to pay more attention to the company’s streaming and advertising business, which only became more profitable with the launch of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency Policy. Apple last year.

The company is now looking to alleviate recent problems caused by excessive advertising in some areas on the App Store.
