The decision of the Campeonato Paulista 2022 started on Wednesday, 30, at Morumbi. São Paulo beat Palmeiras 3-1 and Calleri, scorer of two goals, received the ‘Craque do Jogo’ trophy. However, this choice had a novelty: the technology developed by Stats Perform, a data partner of the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF), was responsible for the decision.

Based on data-based artificial intelligence, this technology will act in all broadcasts promoted by the São Paulo entity, such as Record, Youtube, Premiere, HBoMax and Paulistão Play. The measure was taken by the Federation in order to offer another innovation for the State, which already has technological transmissions and even NFTs of relevant plays of the matches, marketed by Binance, the competition’s cryptoactive partner.

As happened in the first leg with the option for the São Paulo forward, the artificial intelligence of Stats Perform will calculate a score for the athletes according to numerous statistics regarding the performance inside the four lines in the return clash, scheduled for Sunday, at Allianz Park.

According to MKT Esportivo, these data will be separated by some analysis criteria, which are equivalent to qualitative aspects of the player’s performance: Attack, Defense, Finishing, Passing, Possession and Goalkeeper. In addition to some more specific facts of the game: winning team, losing team, missed penalty, saved penalty, cards.

All these factors are part of the final calculation of the score and have different weights depending on the athlete’s role in the match. Therefore, the finishing power is more impactful for an attacker than for a defender, and the ‘goalkeeper’ criterion does not influence the score of outfield players.

“FPF and LiveMode have worked together to provide innovations within Paulistão Sicredi. Choosing the Craque do Jogo from the finals through artificial intelligence is another unprecedented feat, provided through data from our partner, Stats Perform”, said Bernardo Itri, executive VP of marketing and communication at FPF.
