olombia topped $156 million in gaming tax collection in 2021

Colombian gaming regulator Coljuegos published a financial report with its results for the year 2021 and included the Action Plan for this year.

According to the report, Coljuegos reached 613,000 million pesos (US$ 156,072,252) in collections in 2021, in terms of Exploration Rights – Monopolistic Income, and the goal for this year is to reach 740,447 million (US$ 188.52 million ).

On the other hand, gross sales accumulated in 2021 exceeded 45 billion pesos (US$ 11,457 million), and expectations point to a possible improvement in these numbers for this year, with the expected reactivation of the economy, after the pandemic. In gross sales, in-person gaming rooms recorded nearly $7 million in that period, while online gambling contributed another $4,073 million.

As for this year’s first results, as of January 2022, in-person games top the list with $6.3 million, followed by online games with $4.4 million. Coljuegos announced that it will seek to “increase the number of METs by 3% and evaluate “complementary mechanics presented by the Lotto concessionaire”.

Coljuegos aims to promote responsible and legal gambling in 2022

Coljuegos’ second objective for 2022 is to increase the promotion of responsible and legal gambling, which includes audits of both in-person and online operators. For this, the entity will create reports that will include “clearly, the main data on the operation of all new games to be implemented in bookmakers, thus promoting transparency in the sector”.

As for its annual work, it will maintain its momentum in designing and executing specific campaigns and expanding “Pacts for Legality” across the country, along with blocking and shutting down unauthorized operators.

In addition, there is the intention to “complete 100% of the Anti-Corruption and Citizen Service Plan Accounts, as well as implement a Risk Management System in all game operators existing in the territory”.

Finally, Coljuegos plans to face a “digital transformation” to modernize itself, improve the security of information systems and strengthen its presence in audits and controls in 2022.

And, it will work to “identify and specify all the processes of distributing the resources of the new games that are implemented in the bookmaker, as well as implementing a payment solution for the same. This payment platform will be included in the portal”. developed manuals for users, including a step by step of the activities and each internal process of the bookmakers.
