AFA expands agreement and First Division Argentina will be called ‘Torneo Socios.com’

The Argentine Soccer Federation (AFA) has extended its agreement with Chiliz, the company that created the Fan Tokens and the Socios.com platform. From now on, the Argentine First Division will be called Torneo Socios.com throughout the 2021-22 season.

The tournament, organized by the Professional Soccer League (LPF), an entity belonging to the AFA, began last Friday, 16th, with a duel between Club Atlético Unión de Santa Fe and Boca Juniors, current champion of the league.

This new agreement extends the collaboration established last May between Chiliz and AFA, through which the Argentine national team became the first to launch its Fan Token through Socios.com on June 11th.

Fan Tokens are collectible digital assets that grant fans access to a series of advantages, such as participating in the organizations’ decisions through voting, exclusive offers, promotions and discounts or interacting with other fans in chats, games, contests and other actions on the Socios.com application.

Socios.com already has more than 40 partner organizations

More than 40 international sports organizations have already partnered with Chiliz to launch Fan Tokens on the Socios.com platform, allowing their fans to enjoy exclusive benefits as part of a vibrant international community.

Socios.com’s partners include European soccer giants such as FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid and Valencia CF, among others. Also leading brands like UFC, Formula 1 teams and Indian Premier League cricket clubs. In addition, the organization recently closed with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics franchises.

In Argentina, Clube Atlético Independente is so far the only entity that has launched its Token on Socios.com. Other South American institutions doing this are Corinthians and Atlético Mineiro, from Brazil. In the first half of 2021 alone, Fan Tokens generated profits of 150 million dollars.

Socios.com is in the process of expansion and has ambitious plans to increase its presence in both Argentina and Latin America, with the aim of inaugurating a new era in which fans change from spectators to protagonists of the sport.

About this agreement, Claudio Tapia, President of AFA, highlighted: “We are very happy to start this new trajectory together with Socios.com. This agreement is very important because it will be the first time that the Argentine tournament will be associated with a brand. Argentine soccer must continue to grow in the world, increasing its audience and global visibility”

Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz and Socios.com, also commented: “This historic announcement marks a milestone on the path that will lead Socios.com to become the global brand of reference in the fan engagement segment, exponentially increasing our visibility in the Argentina and Latin America”.
