OGL is born: the Network of Legal Operators of Online Games in Latin America

With the intention of forming a network of operators and providers in the online gaming sector, 15 companies from five countries in Latin America have already joined OGL – Online Gaming LatAm. The group will seek to promote policies and concepts of legality, social responsibility and transparency throughout the region.

The initiative, promoted by some of the main operators in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Paraguay and Costa Rica, is a consequence of the evolution of the Latin American sector, which has been growing gradually and gained momentum with recent events: the closing of physical rooms due to the pandemic and the announcement of regulations in various jurisdictions in recent months.

From the increased interest of the industry in the online segment, the OGL (Online Gaming Latam) network was born as a non-profit group, with a professional, modern and young view of the market.

The main objective is to guarantee the interests of the industry in all its forms, including the operations of digital and live casinos, online bingo, sports betting, virtual betting, fantasy sports, electronic sports, as well as all the activities of its operators and suppliers, always directly linked to the region.

To date, the operators that have joined as active members are: BetPlay, Wplay, MozzartBet and AquiJuego, from Colombia; Apuesta Total, MeridianBet, Inkabet and TeApuesto, from Peru; Il Palazzo, Casino Carnaval and Play 595, from Paraguay; Palpitos, Jugadon and Casino Del Río Online, from Argentina, together with Betcris, licensed in Costa Rica.

The network has been coordinated since its inception by a Board of Directors, composed of Evert Montero Cárdenas (FECOLJUEGOS), Alan Burak (Monografie), Pablo Zuppi and Diego Fiz (Yogonet.com), who ensure that the intention “is to create a space for operators and suppliers that promote policies and concepts of legality, social responsibility and transparency related to the activity ”.

“We want to add more operators in this first stage of creating OGL”, say its promoters. “Because we believe that the plurality of voices and experiences is what can best enrich the sector. In addition, the intention is to form a representative group of companies for the region. That is why it is important to add the wishes of everyone who today operates legally ”.

At the same time, they announced that within the network there will be a category for suppliers in the sector, who may join as members of OGL in a second post-launch stage.

How to be part of the entity?

A series of activities was also disclosed to those who are part of the network, including exclusive virtual meetings with regulators in the region (in particular with those who are in the process of opening); implementing a membership seal for members and creating outreach campaigns that detail the benefits of legal gambling over the lack of regulation.

“The benefits of being part of OGL are many. We hope that, from this presentation to society, more operators will join. The participation of companies is totally free, and the only requirement that exists is to verify if it is a company that operates legally and makes contributions to its jurisdiction ”, declared the board members.

“The reason is simple: we believe that a healthy, regulated, socially responsible and safe industry is the best guarantee that operators can have to carry out their investments in an intelligent and solid way, and we want to work for the sector to grow along this path”, they explained .
