Mr Green Prepares Launch in Spain after License Approval

The launch of Mr Green on the Spanish market is close, after the William Hill brand received a license from the country’s regulator, the General Directorate for Gambling Regulation (DGOJ).

The approval of the license for its casino brand strengthens William Hill’s presence in Spain, throughout the sports betting and online market, with the operator saying that the launch of Green will support its multi-brand strategy.

The operator acquired Mr Green in a deal worth £ 245 million in January 2019 from its parent company MRG. William Hill International managing director and CEO of MR Green, Patrick Jonker, said “this is an important milestone for our strategy”.

Jonker further stated that “with the combination of two industry-leading brands, we hope to offer the best experience for players in sports and betting”.

The launch comes less than a month after it was announced that an agreement was reached for Caesars Entertainment to acquire William Hill for approximately £ 2.9 billion.

Remember that in August, William Hill reported a 32% drop in revenue year-on-year, accounting for £ 554.4 million, as a result of the pandemic’s impact on retail activities. That’s because the operator needed to close 119 betting shops due to sanitary measures to contain the new coronavirus.
