FanDuel Launches Online Sports Betting in Iowa

FanDuel Group launched its online and mobile sports betting system in Iowa, United States, in conjunction with Boyd Gaming.

Players will need to visit one of FanDuel’s outlets at Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque or Northwood Iowa to register and activate their online and mobile betting account. This will be required by January 1, 2021, with online or in-app registrations accepted after that date.

Some of the main features of sports betting include the new withdrawal function, allowing players to take their winnings within 24 hours, in addition to being able to broadcast live sporting events through the app.

Customers can now bet on sports such as football, basketball, baseball, golf, MMA, tennis and football. Therefore, Iowa is the seventh US state to host the bookmaker.

Previously, FanDuel launched the Illinois online and mobile sports betting service. In addition, the Flutter operator became the official betting partner of PGA Tour Golf earlier this week.

About FanDuel

FanDuel Group is a daily sports betting provider based in New York, United States. The company was founded by Nigel Eccles, Lesley Eccles, Tom Griffiths, Rob Jones and Chris Stafford on July 21, 2009.

Since then, the service has grown to become the second largest DFS service in the country, behind DraftKings, based on subscription fees and the user base.

In May 2018, FanDuel agreed to be acquired by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power Betfair (now Flutter Entertainment).

Therefore, the company’s existing operations in the USA were merged under the FanDuel brand, seeking to leverage the existing recognition of its user base to expand its sports betting business in the country.
