No one guessed all six numbers in Mega-Sena contest 2918, drawn on Thursday (25). Thus, the prize accumulated and the next draw, which will be held on Saturday (27), could pay out around R$80 million.

Mega-Sena draw 2918 paid out a prize of R$53,009,720.01. The winning numbers that no one matched were: 03 – 26 – 28 – 37 – 42 – 53. Even so, some people had reason to celebrate. That’s because more than 4,000 bets secured partial prizes. Check it out:

According to Caixa, the gross prize pool accounts for 43.35% of the total revenue. Here’s how the prizes are divided:

If there is no winner in any category, the amount accumulates for the next contest, in the respective prize category.

It’s important to note that prizes expire 90 days after the drawing date. After this period, the funds are transferred to the National Treasury for application to the Higher Education Student Financing Fund (FIES).

For the next Mega-Sena draw, bettors have until 7 p.m. (Brasília time) to place their bets. This can be done at lottery outlets, through the Loterias Caixa app, and on the Loterias Caixa portal. A single bet, with six numbers marked, costs R$6.

Source of Mega-Sena prize amounts

First of all, it’s important to understand how Mega-Sena collections and distributions work. Generally, the collected amounts are divided into two percentages: 43.79% goes toward the prize and 56.21% toward disbursements and operating costs.

Thus, the 56.24% is subdivided between social transfers (allocating resources to essential areas such as health, education, security, and sports), commissions to lottery agents, and Caixa Loterias’ operating costs. The amount returned to Caixa falls within the 9.57%, from which operating expenses related to the modality are also deducted.
