Mega-Sena: Single bet wins R$50 million prize

A single bet took home around R$50 million in the Mega-Sena draw held on Tuesday night (1). The draw took place at Espaço da Sorte, in São Paulo, and was held by Caixa Econômica Federal. The winning bet, who guessed all six numbers, is from Goiânia and will take home the exact amount of R$50,722,168.24.

According to data from Caixa, the numbers were registered in a simple bet, of only six numbers, at the Loterias Nova Vila Lottery Agency. The Mega-Sena numbers drawn were: 11 – 15 – 19 – 23 – 49 – 51.

In addition to the sole winner from Goiânia, 97 other bets from across Brazil got the quina, with five correct numbers, taking home around R$33,594.47 each. 5,365 bets got four correct numbers, with the prize being R$867.70.

The next Mega-Sena draw, contest 2,883, will be this Thursday (July 3). The prize amount, announced by Caixa, will be R$3.5 million.

Odds of winning the Mega-Sena

The chances of winning the Mega-Sena vary depending on the number of numbers bet. When betting on 6 numbers, the probability of winning them all is 1 in 50,063,860.

However, with 15 numbers, which is the maximum allowed outside of a pool, the chance becomes 1 in 10,003. In this way, the value of the bet also increases significantly.

How Mega-Sena prize distribution works

The Mega-Sena prize is calculated based on the total amount collected from ticket sales. The gross prize amount corresponds to 43.35% of the total amount collected. The prize tiers divide this amount according to the number of correct numbers for each bet.

The value of a simple bet, with six numbers marked, is R$5.00. The player can choose from 6 to 20 numbers, increasing the chances of winning according to the number of numbers selected. However, the price of the bet also increases proportionally.
