International Game Technology (IGT) will begin operating under the new name Brightstar Lottery. The name change will occur following the sale of IGT’s digital gaming business. The deal is expected to close by July 1, 2025, to Voyager Parent, a company owned by Apollo Global Management.
Apollo also owns Everi, so following a $6.3 billion deal in November last year, the company will merge Everi and IGT into a single brand.
This deal has similar characteristics to when Scientific Games separated its gaming and lottery divisions. Therefore, at that time, renaming the brand to Light & Wonder on the gaming side. However, keeping its old name for lottery.
Brightstar is expected to be a unique lottery brand, with a new brand to reflect the company’s goals of “acting as a guiding light and source of inspiration.”
Brightstar will continue as lottery operator
The company will continue to operate as a lottery operator, as well as a technology provider, instant odds service provider and game developer.
According to CEO Vince Sadusky, the rebranding is an innovation project.
“We have a nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation and lottery leadership, a foundation from which we are launching Brightstar with a forward-looking mindset.”
“Helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, changing player expectations and an ever-increasing variety of gaming options.”
According to the board’s executive chairman, Marco Sala, it is also a question of positioning.
“Brightstar will be well positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business in a responsible way that will entertain players, drive the success of our customers and support the good causes they fund in their communities.”
