US online casinos report $868.6 million in revenue during April


The regulated online casino industry in the United States reached $868.6 million in revenue during April. The seven states that allow this type of gambling each saw a minimum growth of 25% compared to the same period in 2024.

The combined growth represented a 32.5 percent increase, equivalent to more than $213 million in additional revenue. April maintained high levels after March’s all-time record, when revenue surpassed $900 million. Connecticut stood out by setting a new record for the second month in a row.

Online casino revenue remains high in 2025

The total amount wagered reached $10.2 billion, considering that Michigan and New Jersey do not report monthly loss data. Pennsylvania led with $7.5 billion of that amount. On the other hand, Connecticut moved $1.6 billion, repeating that level for the third time in four months.

Operators recorded US$787.9 million in taxable revenue during the period. Consequently, states collected US$169.3 million in taxes, representing US$43.9 million more than in April of the previous year. These figures exclude local taxes and transfers to indigenous communities.

DraftKings and FanDuel expand dominance in regulated market

Connecticut essentially operates with two dominant companies: DraftKings and FanDuel, competing for player preference. DraftKings has been aggressive in the past 60 days. Its promotional spending reached nearly $11 million in April, marking its second month with eight-figure spending. In addition, the company accounted for approximately 1.4% of the total volume of $816.4 million in losses.

The combination of promotional investments and positive performance in virtual games and slots increased the company’s market share to 3.9%. The company achieved record gross revenue of US$31.6 million, surpassing the previous record of US$28.4 million set in March by US$3.2 million. Year-on-year growth was 38.3%.

FanDuel Casino also broke its state record with gross winnings of $29.2 million.

However, the increase was modest, just $30,000 higher than in March. Year-over-year growth reached 57.6%. Its promotional spend exceeded $6 million for the fifth consecutive month, but remained below 1% of total volume moved.

Finally, combined winnings of $61 million grew by 47%. The wagered volume of $1.6 billion increased by 23.1%.
