CAIXA Lotteries are an important source of resources to foster social development in Brazil. In the first quarter of 2025, the institution raised R$5.5 billion through CAIXA Lotteries. However, the amount was 10.1% lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024.
The total net prize money awarded to bettors during the period was R$2.1 billion. This represents an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous year. Between January and March of this year, R$2.1 billion, equivalent to 38.6% of the total amount collected, was allocated to the Federal Government’s social programs in the areas of social security, sports, culture, public safety, education and health.
It is also worth highlighting the first social transfers made in this period coming from the Exclusive Instant Lottery (LOTEX). Since the launch of the product, in November 2024, Caixa has recorded revenues in the order of R$64 million. Thus, positively impacting the CAIXA Conglomerate and society.
Payment of social benefits
As the main operating agent of the Federal Government’s social programs, CAIXA actively contributes to the eradication of poverty and to improving the income distribution of the Brazilian population.
Through its physical and digital service channels and partner network, the institution paid out benefits totaling R$104.6 billion, distributed across 108.2 million installments of income transfers, social programs, employee benefits and INSS benefits in all Brazilian municipalities.
Another highlight is the total payment of R$41.3 billion for Bolsa Família, distributed in 61.9 million installments for 20.7 million families. In addition, the payment of R$37.6 billion for INSS, distributed in 21.2 million installments for 6.7 million beneficiaries. And finally, the payment of R$15.9 billion in Unemployment Insurance, distributed in 9.2 million installments for 3.9 million beneficiaries.
Finally, in the first quarter, the bank also began paying the Salary Bonus, covering payments of R$4.2 billion to 3.6 million beneficiaries during the year. Additionally, R$3.4 billion was paid under the Pé-de-Meia Program, benefiting 3.4 million students across the country. Payments for Gas Aid and other social and regional programs totaled R$2.2 billion.
