The Solidariedade Party filed a lawsuit with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in which it requests the end of municipal authorizations for lottery and betting services. According to the lawsuit, such authorizations conflict with the granting permitted by the Ministry of Treasury.

The case is being reported by Minister Nunes Marques. However, according to reports, there has already been a position in favor of the measure. According to interlocutors, there is an understanding that municipalities have not been able to block lottery games within municipal limits.

One of the cases used as an example in the lawsuit as an argument for the non-functioning of the municipal limit concerns the Bodó Lottery, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte. Cases of municipal lotteries spread throughout Brazil

The lawsuit cites 12 other cities that have also established municipal lotteries, such as Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Campinas (SP) and Anápolis (GO). The party points out that several cities have established municipal lotteries to explore betting methods in defiance of federal regulations.

A bill, presented by councilman Dila (Podemos), aims to authorize the operation of the public lottery service in the municipality of Gravataí (RS). Called Loteria Gravataí (LOG), the proposal foresees that the service will be a partnership with the state and federal governments. According to it, several types of lottery games will be regulated, in accordance with current legislation.

The operation of the service will be the responsibility of the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development and Tourism and the lottery proceeds will be donated to the Dom João Becker Hospital. According to the proposal, the amounts of the prizes won and not claimed will also be
