The governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa, began operations of Lototins, the state lottery, this Tuesday (18), at an event at Palácio Araguaia Governador José Wilson Siqueira Campos, in Palmas. The decree covers the creation and administration of lottery units in all 139 municipalities in the state.

This initiative aims to increase financial revenue and promote job creation, in addition to promoting social projects, especially in the areas of sports and inclusion.

During the first five years, gross revenue should exceed R$600 million, with the creation of 1,500 direct and indirect jobs expected.

The governor expressed optimism: “The Tocantins lottery will generate job opportunities in the municipalities and bring important dividends for State Management.

In addition, part of the proceeds may be used to promote sport and other essential areas. This represents two important fronts of economic growth for Tocantins.”

Lototins details

Lototins, a reference of luck and protection, will be the pioneer in the state. Lottery units will be installed throughout Tocantins, offering safe bets and combating illegality. The resources generated will support projects in the areas of health, sport and social inclusion.

The initiative also aims to boost lottery services and sports investors in the state, with bets in in-person and digital formats, providing convenience to bettors.

The Lototins Consortium won the bid and, as the governor explained: “The State Lottery represents an innovative financing mechanism for social programs, ensuring sustainable and long-term investments for the development of our state”.

In other words, the consortium will manage operations, distributing points of sale in shopping malls and strategic locations in cities.

Lototins categories and contributions

The state lottery will explore different categories, in the fixed quota system, the prizes are known at the time of betting. Furthermore, quick modalities, such as scratch cards, indicate instant winnings.

Another traditional format, such as Mega-Sena, offers a prize to anyone who matches the numbers drawn. Finally, the passive modality offers chances of winning with pre-numbered tickets.

Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of Partnerships and Investments, highlighted: “The State Lottery represents an innovative financing mechanism for social programs, ensuring sustainable and long-term investments for the development of our state”.

Aleandro Lacerda from Tocantins Parcerias explained: “The Tocantins State Lottery is an important milestone for the economic and social development of our state.

This project stimulates the local economy and generates jobs, also guaranteeing the allocation of part of the resources to social projects for the benefit of citizens.

Our focus is to contribute to the sustainable growth of the state, always responsibly and, in line with Governor Wanderlei Barbosa’s commitment, with strategic projects that drive the progress of Tocantins”.

Responsibility and future

The Lototins Consortium will be in charge of the operation for the next 20 years, implementing and managing the project. With this forecast, adherence to the model should generate R$27 million in initial investments.

Eduardo Paiva, CEO of the consortium, highlighted: “We are honored to have the privilege of contributing to the Government of Tocantins in the implementation of this project.

We will make this lottery a great example of fundraising for the whole of Brazil, whether in terms of operation, the technology used and mainly profitability so that State Management can enhance investment in the social area through the fruits of this service, for the well-being of the people of Tocantins”.

The State Department of Finance will supervise the regulatory work, acting with transparency and therefore supervising lottery operations.

The Secretary of Finance, Donizeth Silva, emphasized: “The institution of the lottery in the state has the potential to generate revenue that will benefit society, especially in social areas and is an activity that is regulated throughout the country”.

Concluding, Thomas Jefferson highlighted: “It is important to emphasize that the aim of this project goes beyond fundraising. We are committed to being an alternative in the fight against ludopathy [gaming addiction], promoting conscious and healthy gaming.

The private sector will expand the supply of quality services to the population, thus ensuring the efficient and transparent application of the resources generated. It is a project that will bring direct benefits to thousands of people from Tocantins, promoting social and economic advances always with responsibility and care for the well-being of the population”.
