Governador-de-Minas-Gerais-nomeia-novo-chefe-da-Loteria-Mineira

Romeu Zema, governor of Minas Gerais, appointed Onésimo Diniz Moreira, former technical director of the Institute for Development of the North and Northeast of Minas Gerais (Idene), to lead the Loteria Mineira. The appointment took place this Thursday (28).

Onésimo replaces Ronan Edgard Moreira, who recently resigned. Ronan left his position before the vote by the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG) on whether he would remain on the lottery board, after being questioned in December 2023.

Now, Onésimo faces the challenge of dealing with a public competition paralyzed by the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) due to allegations of illegality. Therefore, since May, the concession for the operation of online games, valued at R$15.4 billion and expected to last 26 years, has been under legal dispute.

Career of the new state lottery manager and next steps

Onésimo, who served in Idene‘s second tier between April 2020 and December 2021, now assumes a crucial leadership role. Idene is made up of four directorates: technical, Planning, Management and Finance, regional for the North of Minas and Vales.

The next step for Zema is to send Onésimo’s nomination to ALMG for approval. Thus, the assembly will evaluate the name of the new director after a hearing. However, until this process is completed, Onesimo will continue to lead the municipality.

This movement in the Loteria Mineira is another chapter in Zema’s management, which seeks to structure public administration with strategic choices. Expectations now turn to ALMG and its decision on the leadership of the Loteria Mineira.
