Caixa and Loterias Caixa were announced as master sponsors of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), with an investment of R$160 million until 2028.
This is the largest sponsorship in COB’s history, and the resources will be allocated to the development of national Olympic sport and the preparation of Team Brazil athletes for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Carlos Vieira, president of Caixa, and Paulo Wanderley, president of COB, signed the contract at CAIXA’s headquarters, in Brasília. Olympic athletes such as Caio Bonfim (athletics), Rafael Silva (judo), Ana Sátila (canoeing) and Lucas Verthein (rowing) participated in the event.
Loterias Caixa sponsorship details
Paulo Wanderley highlighted the impact of the sponsorship: “The sponsorship of Caixa and Loterias Caixa is a milestone in the history of COB and will benefit the entire Brazilian Olympic sport. This achievement reflects the new level of Brazilian Olympic sport.”
He also reinforced the scope of support, stating that “this Caixa sponsorship is not for an athlete, it is not for a team. It is for all athletes and for all teams in all Brazilian Olympic sports.”
The sponsorship also makes possible the launch of TOP COB, a new program that will direct resources to confederations, teams and athletes, aiming to increase the COB’s direct investment in the cycle until Los Angeles 2028. “This resource will be invested directly in the confederations and consequently in the athletes” , highlighted Wanderley.
The partnership includes counterparts involving COB institutional events, Team Brasil’s social networks and the participation of Olympic athletes. COB will present its first actions at COB Expo. Thus, the event will take place between the 25th and 29th of September, in São Paulo.
Gustavo Herbetta, Marketing Director at COB, highlighted the success of previous cycles and the impact of the new agreement: “We had a historic cycle to Paris in terms of commercial and brand results, with record revenue, audience, engagement and 16 new sponsors Therefore, there could be no better way to start the Los Angeles cycle by announcing the biggest sponsorship in the history of the COB.”
Caixa support for sport
Caixa, recognized for its support of Brazilian sport, has a long history of investments ranging from basic to high-performance.
According to Carlos Vieira, “Cate has a very deep social vocation. We sponsor from the base to the top, Olympic and Paralympic sports. Therefore, CAIXA being the master sponsor of the Brazilian Olympic Committee is the chance to give Brazilians the opportunity to can have citizenship through sport”.
Furthermore, Caixa Lotteries are essential for supporting high-performance sports in Brazil. The Lottery Law allocates 1.7% of the gross revenue from predictions and federal lotteries to the COB, which strengthens national sport.
During the Paris Olympic Games, Caixa and Loterias Caixa sponsored the Parque Time Brasil Olympic Festival. The event took place at Parque Villa Lobos, in São Paulo. Furthermore, it brought together fans and supporters in a fan fest that celebrated the Olympic spirit.
