On Tuesday (13), the Banestes Board of Directors approved the creation of a subsidiary dedicated to operating lottery services in Espírito Santo. The Council took the decision after the Central Bank granted authorization the previous day (12).
This initiative marks an important step forward for the bank, which can now explore a new business segment.
The state governor, Renato Casagrande, celebrated the news on his social networks. He highlighted that the games will generate revenue for fundamental areas such as health, sport and social assistance in Espírito Santo.
In a publication on platform X (formerly Twitter), Casagrande stated: “An initiative that reinforces our commitment to generating revenue and investing in the well-being of the population.”
A state law enacted in December 2023 guaranteed the possibility of exploring lotteries in the state.
The Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo (Ales) approved the law, authorizing Banestes to offer bets in both physical and virtual media, with specified modalities defined by decree.
The regulation, control and inspection of these services will be the responsibility of the state’s Public Services Regulatory Agency.
In an official statement, Banestes stated that it will soon release more details about the project’s next steps. Thus, the creation of the lottery represents a new source of revenue for the bank and the state, with the promise of directly benefiting the population of Espírito Santo through investments in the aforementioned areas.
