In the final stretch of the year, bettors traditionally turn their attention to Mega da Virada. With a prize pool of around 350 million reais, the biggest prize in the history of the lottery segment, lottery houses have been taking bets since November 16th.
Caixa Econômica Federal will promote the draw on the last day of the year, on December 31st. This will be contest number 2440 and no other draw will take place until the end of 2021. As it is a unique contest, Mega da Virada’s prize does not accumulate.
If no one gets the six numbers right, the amount will be divided among the five dozen winners. The estimated amount is above the value of last year, when Caixa projected an award of 300 million reais.
Bets can be placed at lotteries throughout the national territory, in the Loterias Caixas app or online. The simple bet, which has six tens, is being sold for R$ 4.50. Reinforcing that bets must be made on Mega da Virada’s own steering wheel.
According to information released by Caixa Econômica Federal, if a bettor earns this amount alone, if he puts the money into savings, he will have an income of 1.5 million reais per month. This amount is enough to buy 40 luxury homes for almost 9 million reais each.
About the Mega da Virada
Players can also play in groups with Bolão Caixa, simply fill in the field on the wheel or buy the stakes of bolões promoted by the lottery companies. The raffle has a minimum price of R$10, but the quota cannot be less than 5 reais.
This year’s Mega da Virada contest will take place at 8 pm (Brasilia time) and will be broadcast live both on Caixa Econômica’s official YouTube channel and on open TV channels.
