Sportech-signs-sports-betting-deal-with-Connecticut-Lottery-Corporation

The agreement gives Sportech Venues Inc., in conjunction with CLC sports betting provider Rush Street Interactive (RSI), the ability to offer sports betting across its entire retail assets, and promotes CLC’s online and mobile channel.

The change comes after the Connecticut General Assembly passed legislation to authorize sports betting in the state in May 2021, signed by Governor Ned Lamont.

But Sportech did not receive a sports betting license, so the group considered two options; either legally contest the decision, or build a mutually beneficial relationship with one of the three parties who have received a license.

“Our customers have been demanding sports betting for many years and we are delighted to be a part of the CLC team, bringing our proven locations, experience and licensed betting professionals to support CLC in providing an exciting sports betting product through the network of retail and promoting its online and mobile channel,” said Sportech CEO Richard McGuire.

CLC President Rob Simmelkjaer added: “We are very excited to partner with Sportech to bring retail sports betting to every corner of Connecticut.”

“Their existing locations and licensed staff will allow us to quickly get to market with RSI’s retail offering, and we look forward to working with them as we increase retail sports betting across the state,” concludes Simmelkjaer.
