Caixa Lotteries extend sponsorship to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee for another year

Caixa Lotteries announced the continuity of the sponsorship agreement to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) in the amount of R $ 24.7 million for another year, valid between June 2021 and June 2022.

The values ​​for the training of athletes will come from the Lottery Development Fund (FDL) and will benefit around 26 thousand athletes from all over Brazil, from basic categories to high performance. The agreement establishes an increase in the presence of CPB in the national territory, with actions in all states.

The extension of the agreement includes 11 sports: athletics, wheelchair basketball, bocce ball, 5-a-side football, goalball, weightlifting, judo, swimming, table tennis, sports shooting and sitting volleyball.

“CPB and Caixa have formed a successful partnership for almost two decades and we are very happy with the renewal of the bond. It is an inexorable part of the history of the Brazilian Paralympic Movement, due to its enormous contribution to the development of sports for people with disabilities in Brazil, ”said Mizael Conrado, two-time Paralympic football champion in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, and current president of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee.

Conrado added: “Together, we have accumulated victories in fields, tracks, arenas, swimming pools and courts around the world. A solid and lasting relationship that will certainly continue to be victorious for a long time not only for Caixa and CPB, but for the cause of people with disabilities in this country ”.

Lotteries Caixa has supported CPB since 2003

The bank’s president, Pedro Guimarães, affirmed when renewing with the Paralympic Committee, that Caixa Económica Federal is committed to collaborating with the promotion of sports and sportspeople far beyond just winning medals.

“Caixa is strongly identified with Paralympic sport and is present in numerous projects aimed at people with disabilities, including our proximity to the Associations of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (Apae). Caixa’s history with the Committee has been 18 years, ”stated Guimarães.

Lotteries Caixa has contributed to the national parasports through the CPB since 2003, totaling R $ 271.3 million in sponsorship. Over this time, athletes have been present in four Paralympic Games and have brought 195 medals to the country. In addition, Brazil jumped 24th in the world ranking, going from 14th in Athens to 8th position in Rio 2016.

In the period from 2017 to 2020 alone, the CPB promoted 864 sporting or educational events throughout the country, with an average of 216 activities per year. Actions such as the “Paralympic Festival”, which reached more than 16 thousand children and young people in all states in two editions.

This program is linked to two novelties of this cycle, which serve to expand the possibilities of young people with a disability and who dream of continuing in sport: the Paralympic Sports School and the Reference Centers.

In addition, “Paralympic Education” qualified 15 thousand professionals in the course “Basic Fundamentals of Paralympic Sport” via Distance Education (Distance Learning), and held 234 worshops that trained 8 thousand people. From 2017 until now, there are more than 23 thousand professionals trained to support Paralympic sport.

Plans for the Brazilian parasports

Regarding high-performance sport, the country had unprecedented results in the world athletics tournaments, in Dubai 2019, and swimming, in Mexico City 2017. Another historic feat happened at the Parapan-American Games Lima 2019.

After nine days of disputes, the athletes supported by the Lotteries Caixa beat the mark of 308 medals, 124 gold, 99 silver and 85 bronze. No nation has ever achieved so many victories in a single Parapan. Brazil was placed first overall, counting twice as many golds from the second place in the medal table, the United States.
