The Ministry of Sports, through the National Secretariat for Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sports, has just launched the Manual for Preventing and Combating the manipulation of sports results.
The new official publication brings together various guidelines, guidelines, concepts and practical instruments created with the purpose of shielding and protecting the integrity of competitions throughout the national territory.
What the new guide against the manipulation of sports results addresses
The document was formulated and written by an Interinstitutional Working Group focused on combating fraud.
This important initiative brought together representatives from the Ministries of Sports, Justice and Public Security and Finance, as well as international bodies and entities focused on market integrity.
The structuring of the material is a direct result of the National Meetings to Combat Manipulation of Sports Results, which brought together public authorities, sportsbooks and federations to debate new strategies for containing fraud.
Thus, using accessible language and technical content, the booklet explains the fundamental concepts of crime, the most common types of fraud and suspicious betting patterns that trigger operational alerts.
The text also highlights, above all, the extreme urgency of continued cooperation, addressing the education and training of athletes and referees, the formulation of codes of ethics, preventive monitoring and the creation of efficient reporting channels.
For the government, the publication guarantees the country’s alignment with best global practices.
Authorities highlight the protection of sport and society
According to the Minister of Sports, Paulo Henrique Cordeiro, the material will strengthen the sector’s credibility.
“Combating match manipulation requires integrated action, permanent prevention and commitment from everyone involved in the sport.
This manual is an important tool to guide institutions, protect athletes and strengthen the credibility of Brazilian sports competitions.
The Government of Brazil also acts to protect Brazilian families and ensure that this betting ecosystem operates with responsibility, transparency and protection for society”, stated the minister.
Likewise, Giovanni Rocco, national secretary of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport, added:
“The manual represents another step in the consolidation of public policies aimed at sporting integrity and protecting the competitive environment, especially given the expansion of the regulated sports betting market in the country”, assessed the manager.
