Hiran said he “regrets” the rapporteur’s accusations, which were made without evidence. “The senator has always led the committee with responsibility, institutional respect and commitment to the facts.”
“The senator’s accusations are unfounded and attempt to transform legitimate disagreements into personal attacks, which undermines the Senate’s credibility and diverts focus from the true purpose of the CPI,” he highlighted.
According to him, the rejection of the report was a collective decision by the commission, “taken based on the legal fragility of some indictment requests”.
“It was also clear that there was an attempt to use the CPI for personal and media purposes on the part of the rapporteur.”
Furthermore, the senator mentioned the rapporteur’s request for armed protection, following threats she allegedly received. “If there were threats to the senator’s integrity, a formal complaint should be filed and rigorously investigated by the competent authorities,” he said.
Hiran added that this issue cannot be used to “spread irresponsible insinuations against other parliamentarians,” he said.
