The final report of the Bets CPI will be presented this Tuesday morning

The final report of the Bets Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) will be presented this Tuesday (10), at 10 am. The parliamentarians will analyze the text of the rapporteur, Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS). In addition, they will examine a separate report by Senator Izalci Lucas (PL-DF).
The Bets Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) will present the document with a request for indictment of 16 people under investigation.

According to the rapporteur, Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), those involved include influencers, businesspeople and representatives of sportsbooks. The document proposes 18 bills and 21 measures “to contain the uncontrolled growth of online betting”.

Soraya Thronicke stated: Among the proposals are the creation of a national register of bettors, the criminalization of predatory betting advertising and the creation of control mechanisms through financial and payment institutions.”

The beginning of the Bets CPI

The CPI began operating in November 2024. However, the deadline for completion of the work is next Saturday, the 14th. However, as the Senate does not work on weekends, the final version will be voted on before then.

A session is scheduled for tomorrow. Consequently, there will be a presentation and reading of the final report. On the other hand, the assessment – vote – will take place on Wednesday (11).
The Commission was characterized by low parliamentary participation. Few actively participated in the sessions. In addition, there was participation from influencers, such as Virgínia Fonseca.

Another notable moment occurred when the chairman of the committee, Senator Dr. Hiran (PP-RR), arrested businessman Daniel Pardim Tavares Gonçalves. The charge was false testimony.

Soraya Thronicke accused the businessman of lying. He claimed not to know the person who would be his partner in the online betting payment company Peach Blossom River Technology.

CPI numbers

The CPI held 20 meetings in total, meaning the commission heard 18 people through invitations, when attendance is not mandatory, and summons.

Twelve requests for summons were denied by the deponents. Therefore, they did not attend the scheduled hearings. This number represents double the number of summonses made, only 5.

Among those summoned who did not attend were lawyer and influencer Deolane Bezerra. Representatives from several betting houses, such as Sportingbet and Bet Nacional, and the company Pink Brasil were also absent. Influencer Virgínia Fonseca is also part of this company.

In the final stretch of the CPI, senators approved the summoning of influencers GKay, Jojo Toddynho and Jon Vlogs. However, the names were never put on the agenda, so the committee approved 312 requests.

It was behind only the Pandemic CPI and the CPMI of January 8. Many of them were repeated, such as invitations and summons. Therefore, the commission sent only 162 letters to people involved.

With the low number of requests came the low number of files received. There were only 162 files. It was behind, for example, the CPI on Game Manipulation and Sports Betting. Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) chaired this CPI and it received 260 files.
