Superbet Brasil, official sponsor of São Paulo and Fluminense, made history by becoming the first bookmaker to pay the R$30 million grant required by the government to operate as a regulated company in the country. The company confirmed the information, highlighting strict compliance with all Ministry of Treasury requirements.
The achievement marks an important step for the sports betting market in Brazil. Superbet had to meet all requirements in the documentary evaluation phase before carrying out the transaction.
Superbet and regulation in Brazil
The platform was the second company in the industry to request authorization to operate in the country, behind only Betano. However, it was the first to complete the granting process, solidifying its position in the national market.
Founded just a year ago, Superbet has already demonstrated its commitment to legality. The company only operates in markets with defined regulations, reinforcing its ethical and professional stance in the sports betting sector.
Impacts on the gaming market
In an interview with Panel S.A., the CEO of Superbet Brasil, Alexandre Fonseca, highlighted the benefits of regulation for the sector and the country. According to him, a regulated market brings legal and tax security, in addition to protecting consumers.
“A regulated market promotes legal and tax security for operations, increases revenue for the Union and offers greater protection to players. All serious operators in the sector share these objectives”, stated Fonseca.
Therefore, Superbet’s entry as a regulated company reinforces the potential of the Brazilian sports betting market, pointing to a significant evolution of the local industry.
According to Régis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Bets at the Ministry, the official list should be published at the end of December.
“From the last fortnight of December, a list of companies authorized to operate in Brazil from January 1, 2025 will be published in the Official Gazette. This list will include companies that made their request by August 20,” stated the secretary.
