The sports betting and online gaming market in Brazil entered a new stage since last Tuesday night (19). This is because the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), linked to the Ministry of Treasury, began the notification phase of groups approved to operate legally in the national territory.

Therefore, companies, with all procedures approved, are beginning to receive instructions to pay the grant, in the amount of R$30 million reais, and prove the minimum share capital of R$30 million.

Players have a period of 30 days, with the count starting from receipt of the notification, to gather and present all the necessary documents to continue the final stretch of the licensing process in the Brazilian market.

Failure to comply with this period for sending proof of payment of the amount corresponding to the grant will result in the authorization request being suspended.

Prizes and Betting Secretariat will announce the first official list in December

In a recent interview, secretary Régis Dudena informed that the SPA is in the final stage of certification requirements for betting companies that signed up in the first window, which ended on August 20th.

Furthermore, he informed that the first list of companies duly authorized to operate in Brazil will be announced in the second half of December.

“From the last fortnight of December, a list of companies authorized to operate in Brazil from January 1, 2025 will be published in the Official Gazette. This list will include companies that made their request by August 20,” stated the secretary.

“After that date, approximately 170 other companies placed an order, but they will have to go through the entire process to receive authorization”, added Régis Dudena.
