The Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, expressed his support for the legalization of casinos in Brazil. Furthermore, it proposed measures to facilitate access to the country for foreign tourists.
Alckmin highlighted the economic importance of these actions for the tourism sector. The vice president supported the release of physical games in Brazil, stating: “My personal opinion about casinos is: I am completely in favor, once the locations are defined.”
Alckmin also cited the example of the world gambling capital, Las Vegas. “Take Las Vegas, for example, which started with a casino and today is also entertainment, with shows and musicals, in addition to being a creative economy and promoting business.”
“A series of activities that have the full support of the sector because they distribute income and create jobs”, he added.
Visa facilitation and casino models in Brazil
The vice president used the example of Las Vegas to illustrate how casinos can become centers of entertainment and creative economy, contributing to the generation of jobs and income distribution in Brazil.
Furthermore, Geraldo Alckmin addressed the issue of facilitating visas for foreign tourists, highlighting the National Tourism Plan:
“We launched the National Tourism Plan that will expand and facilitate access to visas to enter Brazil. This will bring many more foreigners here. We will reach 10 million international tourists in 2027 because the exchange rate will help. It is cheap to do tourism in Brazil .”
He stated that visa facilitation, combined with the favorable exchange rate, could attract more international tourists to the country, with a target of 10 million visitors by 2027.
The Vice President of the Republic also highlighted the importance of tourism in several aspects. “Tourism is health. Human beings are not machines, they need to rest, they need to have entertainment. Tourism is education, you get to know and learn when traveling.
“Tourism is peace, it brings people together, and especially employment and income, a great challenge in the modern world. The government gives its full support to Tourism, which is growing”, he concluded.
